We recommend you only use accessories and supplies products approved by Philips. Other accessories may compromise device functionality and system performance, or cause a potential hazard.

You can find a list of approved accessories and supplies products in the Instructions for Use (IFU) supplied with your device. We are continually improving the quality and range of our supplies products, so in some cases, newer supplies are available. Among the search options available, you can search our online Supplies Finder according to the Philips device with which you are working.

By the way, many Philips supplies products will also work with devices from other manufacturers. We include this information on the product page. Please use the search function in the Supplies Finder to look for such devices.

Many medical products need special approval for use in particular regions or countries. This means we cannot provide all of the supplies products shown in our reference guides or in the Supplies Finder everywhere.

We label products with the CE mark if they conform to the European Medical Directive (MDD): 93/42/EEC Council Directive of 14 June 1993, and are available for sale in countries requiring CE marking. Countries that accept CE marked products include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom. CE marking does not necessarily indicate that a product is marketed or distributed in all of these countries. Restrictions may be noted.

CE marking is not intended as a legal product marking.

Compliance with the European directives and regulations ensures a standard level of performance for device function, safety, and health protection for users, patients, and others.

Non-medical products that comply with other harmonized directives may also have CE marking.

Philips Healthcare offers high quality accessories and supplies that are designed to precise specifications. Philips manufacturing facilities meticulously follow these specifications to produce products that optimize the performance of Philips equipment and instrumentation.

Validation means Philips follows rigorous testing and has taken the necessary steps to ensure that the quality and performance we claim are delivered.

Philips meets a wide range of standards that have been set by regulatory authorities (like the FDA) and standardization committees (such as the IEC, or ISO).

For exact information on the standards conformance of a particular product, ask your local Philips sales representative.

Some validation testing is performed in highly sophisticated laboratories with specific environmental conditions, for temperature and humidity to ensure the products perform properly under these conditions. Some of these tests can take up to three months to complete.

Other tests are done in a clinical environment to ensure your needs are met.

For example, one step in the validation process for SpO2 sensors is known as controlled desaturation studies (sometimes referred to as “Desats”). A controlled hypoxia is induced in healthy volunteers and the readings of the pulse oximeter are compared to a COoximeter. The number of volunteers and data samples per volunteer has to be high enough to attain statistical significance to demonstrate the instrument/sensor combination under test meets the specified accuracy.

Just because a sensor “appears” to work when plugged into a device does not mean that it is accurate or safe. Other devices may use different technology and software algorithms to process the data.

It is essential to determine that the various combinations of device and supplies products meet Philips standards to ensure you get clinically viable data.

It is because of our rigorous validation activities that Philips Healthcare can stand behind any claims that we make about these products.

Before Philips sells any supplies products, or claims compatibility with any specific devices, the supplies products go through rigorous validation testing.

Please refer to the Instructions for Use provided with the supplies product or ask your Philips sales representative for this information.
